State of Decay 3 is gearing up to host a closed beta playtest sometime later this year, bringing the zombie survival experience closer to players. This announcement comes after significant news regarding its developer, Undead Labs, the Washington-based studio that Microsoft reportedly sold to an undisclosed buyer. Despite this recent change in ownership, the studio appears dedicated to progressing with their upcoming game.

Details regarding the playtest were shared by Bruce Dugan, Undead Labs’ community manager. Dugan confirmed the upcoming playtest in an Xbox Wire post published on August 26, emphasizing the studio’s commitment to keeping the zombie survival game thriving. This report is based on information initially published by GameSpot.
