The recent widespread layoffs enacted by Microsoft have significantly impacted its Xbox gaming division. Among the numerous studios feeling the brunt of these changes is Obsidian Entertainment, the developer behind titles such as The Outer Worlds, where reports suggest the staff reductions have been particularly substantial.
Estimates indicate that around a quarter of the studio’s total workforce has been affected by these departures. This translates to an estimated 60 to 70 individuals no longer with the company. Roles reportedly impacted span a broad spectrum, including critical positions such as producers, quality assurance testers, and artists, alongside many other members of the development team.
