A former id Software developer has reportedly shared insights into the intense working conditions leading up to the release of Doom: The Dark Ages – Revelations. The individual characterized the development of this substantial expansion content as exceptionally demanding, citing daily work periods that sometimes reached up to seventeen hours. This alleged arduous schedule was in place for the new DLC, which launched in July.

These claims emerge concurrently with a period of significant restructuring within Microsoft’s gaming division. During the same week Revelations was released, Microsoft announced sweeping layoffs affecting approximately 3,200 staff across its Xbox studio portfolio. Id Software, the studio responsible for the Doom franchise, was among the developers impacted by these widespread job reductions. This report is based on information from Eurogamer.net.
